History 

Before any modern inventions all the glass in the buildings were blown by had. Henry Bessemer was the first to create the float glass method in the 1860's around the time that the Crystal palace was being built in London. However Bessemer's invention was unable to be mass produced with the equipment that he had available to him. about 100 years later Pilkington came along and was able to rejuvenate Bessemer's invention and make it so that plate glass could be mass produced

Henry Bessemer was an English inventor who lived from 1813 to 1898.

Henry Bessemer was the person who originally invented and created the float glass method of making glass. Bessemer is more known for his inventions in cast iron, he used this technology from the cast iron and implemented it into the production of glass.

Pilkington was the man that was able to take Bessemer's invention of the float glass technique and make it so that it would work as a buisness and made it possible to have sheet glass readily available on mass amounts
